PLANT OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
Mitsubishi Can Take Responsibility for Operating Your Advanced Technology Power Plant
In today's power generation industry, plant asset owners often elect to have the complete operation and maintenance of the plant become the responsibility of third party operators, to take advantage of the experience and scale economies gained from the operation of other power plants. These third party operators then share the risk associated with the performance and financial success of the power plant.
When it comes to the new advanced technology plants being built or initially operated today, however, there can be very significant advantages to having a company which designs and builds such advanced technology equipment deeply involved in assuring the success of the asset. To provide plant asset owners with such an option, Mitsubishi has entered into a fossil fired power plant Operations & Maintenance Alliance with Fluor Enterprises, a subsidiary of California-based Fluor Corporation. The jointly-owned company is named FM Operating Services.
In April of 2005, FM Operating Services signed a contract to assume operating responsibility for the Wolf Hollow 730 MW gas-fired combined cycle plant in Granbury, Texas. This plant uses two M501G gas turbines and a 250 MW steam turbine.
Mitsubishi not only designs and builds advanced technology power plants, but also owns and operates power plants in Japan. The most advanced of these is an M501G combined cycle plant in Takasago, Japan which sells power onto the Kansai Electric Power grid. This unique experience, along with strong US parts manufacturing, repair, turbine outage service and 24/7 diagnostic and monitoring capability combined with Fluor's demonstrated track record of asset management and plant operations, gives plant asset owners a formidable option.
If you are looking for an O&M partner that has broad experience and unique abilities to manage technology and risk, please consider Mitsubishi.
